Re:Netfig not recognising modes - 2005/05/26 18:32
It seems to be failing to recognise some modes.
Hi Sue,
I'm glad you like Netfig. Thanks for your question. Netfig recognises errors by comparing your config with a model, we call a schema, of the legal command syntax. There are two kinds of schema (version 0.9 upwards). The static schema have been created by examining the help files of one or more routers in our test-bed. The "Live" schema are created by interogating your router as you type.
Unfortunately, even if you are using the "Live" schema you may see some strange behaviour, particularly around mode changes. Netfig will not modify your running config (without you doing so explicitly). However this means that if you enter a mode that does not exist in the current running config, Netfig cannot follow you to check the schema.
If you see strange underlining there are three things you can do:
- Save the document - this saves the current underlining
- Refresh the schema - right click on the document and select from the pop-up
- Deploy troublesome config and then refresh the schema - this should fix the problem described above
If you have persistent problems with an error please send us a bug report. Highlight the error itself, and any relevant context in the config and use right-click->Report bug.
Hope this helps.
Martin (and the Netfig Team)
